Jesus Christ who become the Gospel (1)

Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” (Mark 5:36)

When we face numerous challenges and chaos all over the place, we sometimes see ourselves hopeless. synagogue ruler Jairus did so. His beloved 12-year-old daughter was dying. No one can know the father’s mournful and desperate heart. The money he had or any person around him or even his position of synagogue ruler couldn’t help his daughter in the face of death. Seeing a hopeless father in front of his daughter who are dying. This discourages our hearts.

The woman who had been suffering from hematuria for 12 years, has lived with an incurable disease that no doctor can cure. Twelve years were filled with moments when a day was about to die under the weight of a thousand years. No doctor could heal it, and all the assets she had were wasted. She was simply an unclean person in Jewish society, and she has not touched or contacted anyone. Those who can’t find a helping hand anywhere and get out of despair on their own…

Despair means that even if you try to gather all your energy and seize every opportunity, you can’t find hope anywhere else. Complete despair. At this time, people see their own incompetent existence that they cannot do anything about. But let’s be thankful even in despair. There is Jesus who comes in the moment of despair. This gives us a great encouragement and comfort. Just because Jesus is there, there is hope for us. It is the Gospel itself that there is a Savior, Jesus, who has the power of heaven in a completely different dimension at a time when it cannot be solved by the power of human and the earth.

Both the synagogue ruler Jairus and the woman who had suffering from hematuria heard the story of Jesus, who become the Gospel. So, they could come to Jesus. Despair is not the same level of despair. Despair, which has a way to solve, has a different level of despair. The presence of Jesus is the good news that is the lifeline for us. It is truly the Gospel that a savior exists for ourselves living in a hopeless world and for mankind who is in the face of despair of existence.

When the dark night passes, even if there is only hope that dawn will come, it is bearable. The Gospel of the Lord is proclaimed in the midst of a desperate world that is bound to go to ruin on its own. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

At a time when I can’t find hope at the bottom of my life, I’m facing despair where I don’t know why I was born, who am I, what will happen in the future, where should I go, but the problem is that I don’t know where I go and ask for help in this world without a way out. What a tragedy would it be for Jairus and a bloody woman if there was not the Lord, if there was not the Lord in the moment of crisis, there was no Lord to visit, and there was no hopeful message to hear from the Lord.

It is Jesus, the name that means salvation, who will save us from our sins in this time of despair and the one who will save his people from our sins. The existence of this Gospel is life and Good News. (2018. March) <Continued>
