Mauritania, located in West Africa, is almost entirely covered by sandstorms from the inland deserts. The harsh winds made a beautiful girl squint her eyes. I pray that, from now on, they will experience not the relentless sandstorm, but the gentle wind of the Holy Spirit.
There was a time in the past when Christians were arrested by the police in a city. A few days before their arrest, the leader of a church received a warning from the authorities. He had enough time to flee, but he chose to stay. “They can’t kill all of us,” he declared, refusing to avoid persecution. The Christians prayed and fasted in the place where they were being held. Even persecution could not stop the revival.
In Mauritania, where Islam has been the national religion for over a thousand years, apostasy from Islam can result in a death sentence under Sharia law. Yet, even here, the invisible wind of the Holy Spirit is stirring. I pray that the wind of life will rise and surge like a powerful storm.
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”(John 3:8_ESV) [GP News]
