Zcchaeus, Come Down

Heavy wooden chairs and white walls which seems to be newly painted look as if they cool off even in a hot summer day if we just come into the church. “Anybody in there?” Children are looking through the crystal-clear window of the church, hanging on the door with locks. One of them is sticking his head out as he is too short. Such a desperate wish…

So did Zcchaeus who climed a sycamore-fig tree to see Jesus. Jesus was someone inaccessible to him, a tax collector whom people despised. However, Jesus knew that he was desperate for Him. Jesus said, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately,” and stayed at his house that night. When we have doubts with questions like “Would He aacept such a sinner like me?” or “Could I come into the door?,” He immediately accepts us by opening the door for us. Jesus was with the sick, prostitutes, tax collectors, and sinners.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10, NIV) [GNPNEWS]
