Worship that returns our heart to God

True worshiper (4)

Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD Almighty. “But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’ (Malachi 3:7)

Going back to God is to live as what God says. When Jacob had a trouble, the Lord said to him that “Go to Bethel.” And he realized that what the Lord said is to go back to the first love. However, those who cry “My Lord, Lord” don’t understand what God says and mock God. It shows that their relationship with God is dead.

The way to return to God is to live as what God says

“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ “In tithes and offerings. (Malachi 3:8) God says that we don’t have to forget everything that we have is permitted by God. The meaning of offering tithe before the Lord is that we give God tithe in our income and we keep and use it as for trustee remembering that God gives us it. If we use what God gives us as what we want, it is theft.

In the darkness that issues an ultimatum, it is the time when it is difficult to live in faith and when the truth is mocked. And at that time, worship is seriously challenged. Our Lord diagnoses our spiritual condition, where worship has collapsed due to the spiritual serious disease, and tells us that worship is not a ritual, but an exaltation and service of God to glorify true God.

Worship is to fear, exalt and serve God

The curse of Adam who was the first man comes from the attack of worship. Satan attacked human who were created to worship God that ‘You don’t need God. You don’t have to worship God.’ Adam was deceived by Satan. Because of this event, every human being are bondage to decay and disobey God. And because of this curse, even though Israelites, the descendants of Adam experienced many miracles and God’s work in the desert after Exodus, they blamed God. Although the desert was the place where God’s love revealed so much, it was the place where worship was failed for them those who blamed and complained to God like the time of Malachi. Satan who attacks us behind tries to destroy worship with the same strategy for thousands of years.

“He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.” (Malachi 4:6) The last word of Malachi. He said that God would send the last missionary, the prophet Elijah, John the Baptist who would proclaim to repent to those who are in hopeless because of Adam’s curse. Our Lord solves the problem of sin that we don’t worship God because of sinful nature, and turns the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers as the Lord dreamed before the creation. And he promises to send the Messiah to recover the original creature that loves and fears God. With this promise, the last chapter of the Old Testament is ended. <Continued>
