A mother and daughter are sitting in the field taking rest for a minute. I can see their tiredness from their legs which are stretched on the soil with their bare feet. And it is like the young daughter’s glance is saying something as if the foreign woman, Ruth, would.
Ruth the Moabitess, who has arrived in Bethlehem following Naomi, her aged mother-in-law, goes to a field of Boaz to glean some ears of grain. And he does her a favor because Ruth has served and has been with her mother-in-law even after her husband died, following Naomi to Judea even though she is not Jewish and she also considers God as her God. Boaz gives Ruth food, allows her to glean in his field and orders his servants not to touch her. He is a model of Jesus. Jesus does our souls and lives a great favor through His Cross. He satisfies our souls more than any care, in the world, does. I cannot but love Jesus. [gnpnews]
“Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Listen carefully, my daughter. Do not go to glean in another field; furthermore, do not go on from this one, but stay here with my maids. Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them. Indeed, I have commanded the servants not to touch you. When you are thirsty, go to the water jars and drink from what the servants draw.””(Ruth 2:8~9_NASB)
