The Perfect Church in Jesus Christ (5)
“When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:1~2)
The Corinthain region as a port city was a splendid city and awaken city. When Paul preached the gospel of the cross in Corinthian, he decided not to use fancy words. This is because the gospel of the cross is the power itself.
“Why does the gospel of the cross become so powerful? Why does the cross, which seems foolish become the wisdom and power of God? It is because the cross changes the center of a person’s inner being.”
Human is contaminated by sin. After committing knowledge of good and evil sin, human died with guilty and sin inherently rebelling against God. They turned away from God in their hearts and became enemies. It is more difficult than the creation of heaven and earth to turn our hearts beck to the image of God. Only the gospel of the cross, which is the wisdom and power of God, can make this possible.
The gospel of the cross can change inner being.
It is impossible for humans to change existentially without being born again. It is also impossible to say that humans can be improved. The kingdom of God is not a place where improved sinners can go. Only those who are born again can enter the kingdom of God. The existence of humans needs to be fundamentally transformed and must be born again. Without being born again, we cannot enter the kingdom of God. What can make someone be born again? There is nothing in the world that can make humans be born again. The only way to be born again is through the cross of Jesus Christ. This is why the gospel of the cross of Jesus is definitely necessary.
The Holy Spirit came 50 days later after Jesus was crucified and resurrected. The early church, the Jerusalem church, gladly proclaimed the gospel of the cross and willingly faced persecution in a hostile environment. This was the early church.
There are some people who claim to pursue the truth in the name of Christianity, but they only deceive others’ eyes and cannot reach the truth. The reason why then cannot reach the truth even though they always learn is because they follow teachers who pursue their own greed. Just as a tree is known by its fruit, the life of Jesus inevitably shows the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
The gospel of the cross transforms the existence of sinful human that could not bear the fruit of Jesus’ life, making them bear the fruit of Jesus’ life. This gospel of the cross is the true power and wisdom of God. (July, 2018) <Continued> [ Gospel Prayer News]
